MyPlay: For All Your Music Needs

MyPlay is another awesome Web 2.0 tool / application. MyPlay allows you to do many things with music all over the place. You can watch music videos, listen to music, buy songs and ringtones from your favorite artists and get tons of album art. The website even allows people to rate the music and videos and there is an option where you can even “like” something. This is kind of like Facebook without all the stupid group names. You do not need an account to watch music videos and stuff, but you need one if you are going to do pretty much anything else, like commenting on videos, rating albums and adding things toy your favorites. Signing up is completely free and the only costs is if you wish to buy albums or individual songs online. The MyPlay Store is located here.

I really like this website due to its ease of easiness. All you have to do is go to myplay.com. From there, you can go to any of the pages that are listed across the top, like Artist, Videos, Music, Photos, ringtones, Tour, ect. Under the artists category, there are 7 headings, with genres like Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Country, and Christian. Once you pick an artist, there is tons of useful information regarding that artist. If your having problems, you can get help here.

This website has many useful features, like watching music videos, buying songs, seeing other people’s ratings, and more. My favorite things about this website are that it’s mostly free to use. Sure, you have to pay to get ringtones and music and stuff, but the website is free to go on for music videos and other useful information like tour dates and news. I also like how easy it is to get album artwork. If you have some songs that are missing artwork, just go to MyPlay, go to that artists page then go to that album. The picture will be right there and all you have to do is save it. There are a lot of things I don’t like about MyPlay. First, there are lots of big bright ads that take your eyes off the page itself. Second, there aren’t that many global artists on there. Most of the artists are people who I would hear from the radio, which isn’t a lot. There are no artists from other parts of the world. Another thing I hate about MyPlay is that when you want to buy a song or ringtone, there is no way to preview it before you play it. With iTunes when you buy a song, you can listen to a 30 second preview so you know if the song is good or not before you buy it. With MyPlay, you don’t really know what you’re getting until you pay for it and have it. The MyPlay Ringtone Store can be found here. Anyway, in my opinion, MyPlay is pretty good, but it isn’t the best Web 2.0 tool out there.
